The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department is reporting multiple auto burglaries occurred overnight and were discovered on Thursday morning. At least one was captured on a security camera and investigators are working to identify the suspect. Deputies say all the crimes occurred within the same area, between Fort Polk (now called “Fort Johnson”) and Highway 171. The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department issued a reminder to people to ensure that your vehicle is locked and never leave keys in a parked vehicle. Also, deputies say never leave valuable in your vehicle such as wallets, purses, or firearms.
