Beauregard Parish Sheriff Mark Herford confirms detectives are investigating a homicide just outside DeRidder.
According to BPSO, a white female is deceased after being shot.
“At approximately 6:26 p.m., a subject phoned the DeRidder police department stating that he had committed a crime. He had shot somebody and wanted to turn himself in,” Herford said.
DeRidder Police made contact with the subject and he is now in custody.
“The investigations revealed that a homicide was committed, and that it occurred just outside the city limits,” Herford said.
The investigation is ongoing, Herford said.
