Just over 19 hours into 2025, Beaumont had their first murder of the year. It occurred at about 7:30 Wednesday evening in the 3900 block of St Helena Street in the north end of that city. Beaumont police say 54-year-old Clifford Motton was riding a bicycle when he was shot, and police found at least 6 bullet casings on the street. Motton was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he died a short time later. Police are working to identify a suspect in the case.
