Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard has announced that an early Thursday morning traffic stop resulted in the discovery of 4.5 pounds of methamphetamine, and the arrest of the driver. Havard says shortly after 1:00, Deputy Jason Hawthorne stopped the vehicle because of defective equipment on Highway 96 in the Kirbyville area. According to Sheriff Havard, Deputy Hawthorne found two bags containing meth with a street value of approximately $20,000.00, and he arrested the driver, Stephen Earle.
