Beaumont Police say a driver is dead and his wife was critically injured after he pulled out in front of another vehicle and the two cars collided. It happened at about 8:30 Wednesday evening at the intersection of Brooklyn and Grant Streets in the old Pear Orchard section of Beaumont, just southeast of downtown. Cops say Arthur Thomas, 58, of Beaumont, was driving a Honda Accord northbound on Brooklyn and pulled out in front of a Cadillac that was eastbound on Grant, and driven by a 31-year-old man, also a resident of Beaumont. Thomas was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later, and his wife remains hospitalized with serious injuries. The driver of the Cadillac had only minor injuries.
