Jasper police and firemen say it was a miracle that no one was hurt or killed in one of the most shocking accidents that has been seen here in a long time.
What happened is not clear and so far no final report has been released, but it appears the crash occurred as late model GMC pick up truck was headed east on Highway 190, when an eighteen wheeled tractor trailer truck hauling a wide load of dirt equipment changed lanes or pulled across the highway.
The Ford crashed into the extended load on the eighteen wheeler, cutting the whole top section or cab from the rest of the truck in the middle of the highway.
Police said the driver of the truck told them that he saw what was happening, just in time and was able to lay over in the seat, barely missing death by just a few inches.
The driver of the eighteen wheeler was not injured.
The accident occurred shortly before 9:00 on Highway 190, just east of Highway 96, in front of Sabine State Bank.
At last word the incident was still under investigation.
