SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A Monday afternoon tree trimming in Smith County resulted in a death.

Smith County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Larry Christian said the incident happened in the 10000 block of Highway 64 East, just outside the Tyler city limits, around 4:30 p.m. Bobby Finley, 76, was found dead at the scene.

Christian said initial investigation appears to show Finley was standing on a ladder while trimming a tree with a chainsaw. A limb he had cut fell into the ladder, knocking Finley to the ground where he was injured and ultimately died.

Smith County JP 4 Curtis Wulf performed the inquest at the scene. An autopsy has been ordered for Finley.
