SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man was arrested after Police say he struck a woman in the face with a metal tool at a Sulphur store early Wednesday.
Sulphur Police said officers were called around 6:08 a.m. to the 700 block of East Napoleon Street after a report that a woman had been hit in the face.
Police said they found the woman with serious facial injuries, and she was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
The incident began after the woman was startled by a dog belonging to another customer, identified as Dwayne Pitre of Lake Charles, according to police.
Investigators said the woman and Pitre exchanged words, and Pitre left the store.
Police said Pitre later came back inside holding a long metal tool and struck the woman in the face.
Police said the woman fell to the floor and Pitre left the store again.
Police said Pitre was later found and arrested. He is charged with aggravated second-degree battery and is being held without bond.
