Three Natchitoches police officers were injured Monday afternoon after a woman wanted in a store theft drove over two and hit another one head-on.
One of the officers was taken to a Rapides Parish hospital with a serious lower body injury. Two others were taken to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center for treatment, one with a minor lower body injury and the other with a minor upper body injury.
LaKendra Bolton, 25, is charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with their injuries.
Natchitoches police said the incident happened just before 2:30 p.m. at the Super 1 Foods on Keyser Avenue.
Officers responded to a theft in progress and Bolton ran from the store to her car in the parking lot. While officers tried to place her under arrest, Bolton drove over them and left, police said.
She was located on South Drive and led other officers on a brief pursuit that ended in a neighborhood off Parkway Drive. Police said during the pursuit Bolton tried to ram an officer and crashed head-on with another police vehicle.
Bolton remains in jail. She's additionally charged with two counts of resisting an officer, aggravated flight from an officer, felony hit and run, reckless operation of a vehicle, theft and several bench warrants.
