ZWOLLE, La. -- Two people were hospitalized Friday afternoon following a shootout at an intersection in Zwolle, Sabine Parish Sheriff Aaron Mitchell said. One of the victims was taken to Sabine Medical Center in serious condition then later flown to a Shreveport hospital. The second person ended up at the Florien Police Department. He was then taken to Byrd Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The shooting happened just after 1:30 p.m. on Magnolia Street. Sheriff's deputies and Zwolle police found a Chevrolet passenger car with numerous bullet holes along with several shell casings in the street. Detectives said it appears the drivers of both cars stopped in the road at the intersection of Magnolia and Horton streets then began shooting at each other. Both had other occupants with them. What prompted the shooting is unknown. One of the cars was found on Magnolia Street and the other on Allen's Loop off state Highway 474 near Florien. Both were seized. The case remains under investigation by the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office.
