A search began late Thursday evening for a drowning victim in the Neches River at Beaumont, and his body was recovered late Friday afternoon in the river near the Beaumont Civic Center. KFDM 6 News is reporting that it happened as five adults in a boat had stopped to swim. The report said that Carlos Chavez Padalla, 26, of Beaumont, went under water and never resurfaced. The search involved Texas Parks & Wildlife, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, and the Beaumont Fire Department.
