2 children killed, 2 adults taken to hospitals in Houston County wreck

HOUSTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - DPS has released more information on a fatal wreck that took place in Houston County on Wednesday.

A Lexus car was heading east on Highway 7 at about 5:38 p.m., when a Ford F-350 heading west crossed the center line and struck it head-on, DPS said. The wreck took place about .02 miles west of FM 232.

Amanda Sparks, 63, of Kennard, was driving the Lexus, with a 5-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy as passengers. One was in the front passenger seat, and one was in the back. Both children were pronounced dead at the scene, according to DPS. Sparks was taken to a hospital by medical helicopter and is believed to have serious injuries.

Charles Spikes, 25, of Huntsville, was driving the Ford. He was also taken to a hospital with serious injuries reported.

DPS is investigating the crash.
