LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Five people, including three inmates, are accused of trying to smuggle drugs into the Calcasieu Correctional Center, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) were asked to investigate after a bag of contraband was found outside the facility on Aug. 25. It contained:
- 1 ounce of PCP
- Over 18 grams of crystal methamphetamine
- Over 70 grams of synthetic marijuana
- 2.5 sheets of paper suspected to be sprayed with synthetic cannabinoids
- 3 packs of cigarettes
As a result, detectives with the C.A.T. Team, corrections personnel, and the Real Time Crime Center identified the individuals they believe were responsible. Judge Tony Fazzio set their bonds, and each was booked on the following charges:
Robert L. Thomas Jr., 35, of Lake Charles - Introduction of contraband into a correctional facility; conspiracy; distribution of a Schedule I drug (3 charges); distribution of a Schedule II drug. Bond: $295,000.
Brittany G. Guillory, 36, of Lake Charles - Introduction of contraband into a correctional facility; conspiracy; distribution of a Schedule I drug (3 charges); distribution of a Schedule II drug. Bond: $295,000.
Jarvis O. Billups, 35 (Inmate) - Conspiracy; attempted introduction of contraband into a correctional facility; distribution of a Schedule I drug (3 charges); distribution of a Schedule II drug: Bond: $125,000.
Duntavious O. Oneal Jr., 28 (Inmate) - Possession of contraband in a correctional facility; possession of a Schedule I drug. Bond: $41,000.
Walter L. Lewis Sr., 41 (Inmate) - Possession of contraband in a correctional facility; possession of a Schedule I drug. Bond: $41,000.
