LIVINGSTON, Texas (KTRE) - On August 12, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible drowning at the Blanchard boat ramp on Lake Livingston.

The victim, identified as Scarlett Boles, 18, had been swimming with her friends when she went under and did not resurface. The sheriff’s office said that her friends quickly located her, called 911, and performed CPR with the assistance of the dispatcher until deputies arrived.

Deputies performed CPR until EMS arrived and took over resuscitation efforts. Boles was taken to CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial in Livingston. In spite of the lifesaving efforts taken by those at the scene and hospital, she did not survive.

The incident remains under investigation pending completion of an autopsy by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
