BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A 16-year-old has been charged with a list of crimes, including attempted murder, after police said he was behind gunfire that broke out on LSU’s campus during last Saturday night’s football game.
He was identified after police sent out a photo earlier today, asking for the public’s help in locating him. WAFB has now taken down the photo since the suspect is a minor and has not yet been charged as an adult.
The shooting, which occurred in the 3400 block of Highland Road around 8:30 p.m., left an 18 and 19-year-old injured. Police said the gunfire stemmed from a prior altercation between some involved parties.
The suspect is facing charges of two counts of attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, illegal possession of a weapon by a juvenile, and carrying a firearm on school property. He will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center.
Police said the Capital Region Crime Stoppers and the Baton Rouge community were instrumental in providing information that led to the arrest.
The investigation is ongoing.
