KTRE in Lufkin is reporting that Jeremy Gladden, a Zavalla man who was accused of killing his uncle was back in court again on Tuesday.
According to the report by Alivia Hartpence, Gladden, 42, appeared before District Judge Robert Inselmann to waive his right for a court attorney. However, Judge Inselmann denied the request and it appears Gladden will continue to be defended by his court appointed attorney.
As you may recall, Gladden was arrested in January of 2024 following the disappearance of his uncle, Lawrence Wise and the discovery of Wise’s body in a shed on Hopsonville Road, located southeast of Zavalla and just east of Highway 63.
At the time of the discovery, investigators said it appeared that Wise, who had apparently died from a shotgun wound had been dead for several weeks.
It was also reported the incident apparently came following several arguments or disturbances involving the two men.
KTRE is also reporting that Gladden has admitted to the crime.
Gladden, who was reportedly captured following the alleged murder in 2024 in Arkansas is still being held in the Angelina County Jail in Lufkin.
