The Jasper County Sheriff's Department is reportedly investigating the death of a small child near Evadale.
Complete details are not available, but Captain Scotty Duncan confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the young boy, which was said to be 1 year and 8 months old was injured when a stove fell on him.
The child was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2:00 by Jefferson County Precinct 1, Place 2 Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr.
Judge Collins told KFDM News that he has ordered that an autopsy be performed in the case.
