A work truck was destroyed by fire at Dam B late Wednesday afternoon. The Beech Grove Fire Department responded shortly before 5:00 and arrived to find that not only was the truck fully engulfed, it was carrying acetylene tanks and also a large drum of fuel. Traffic had to be shut down while firefighters went about battling the blaze in the potentially very volatile situation. Shortly after 5:00, Beech Grove Fire Chief Jamie Gunter said the fire was out, but he said the relief valves on the very hot acetylene tanks were still venting. There were no reports of any injuries and no word yet on what may have caused the fire.
