WOODVILLE, Texas (KTRE) - A Woodville man is in the Tyler County Jail facing charges of continuous sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age. Kevin Lee Powell, 60, was arrested on May 15 after deputies received a report of alleged sexual abuse of a child. Deputies coordinated forensic interviews and gathered evidence that they say implicated Powell in multiple occasions of sexual abuse of a child. Deputies got an arrest warrant, found Powell at his home, and took him into custody. They served a search warrant on the home and they say they recovered multiple items of evidence in the investigation. Powell was then taken to the Tyler County Jail where he was charged with continuous sexual assault of a child under 14. JP Tina Self set his bond at $750,000. He remains in the Tyler County Jail. Sheriff Bryan Weatherford said that Powell could face additional charges as this investigation continues.
