QUITMAN, Texas (KLTV) - A Wood County inmate is dead after being found unresponsive in the jail. According to a Facebook post from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the inmate was found unresponsive in the jail on Thursday. After life-saving measures by the jail staff, EMS transported the inmate to UT Health Quitman, where they were later pronounced dead. The cause of death has not been determined, the post said. The inmate had been booked Wednesday on a first-degree felony charge of injury to a child. The Texas Rangers will be conducting an investigation into the incident.
