The U.S. Attorneys Office for the Eastern District of Texas has announced that a Texarkana woman who sold fake OxyContin pills, which were actually fentanyl, is going to federal prison. Prosecutors say 34-year-old Nickie Jo Mattison, also known as Nickie Hall, was one of five people who were selling the fake pills and, as a result, three people died and another person was seriously injured by the pills. After pleading guilty on a charge of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, a Federal Judge sentenced Mattison to 17 years in prison. Her accomplices, Courtney Lewis, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and Darrell “Monty” Trotter was sentenced to 14 years in prison. Meanwhile, Christopher “Candyman” Candelaria and Kolton Saulsbury both pleaded guilty and they’re currently waiting to learn their prison sentences.
