A woman in Calcasieu Parish has been arrested and is accused of murdering an infant. Investigators say 40-year-old Shirley Sawyer was a caregiver to the child, and she’s now in jail under a charge of Murder with bond set at $2.5 million dollars. According to investigators, Sawyer was babysitting the child in her home. When the baby’s mother came to pick him up, she found the child unconscious and unresponsive, so she took the baby to a hospital emergency room. Investigators say the 3-month-old baby boy died as a result of a massive brain bleed and multiple skull fractures.
