A woman accused of breaking a window at the Kirbyville Police Station late Tuesday afternoon has now been charged. 31-year-old Chardonnay Leigh Howard appeared before Precinct 6 Justice of the Peace Steve Conner on Thursday and was charged with one count of obstruction or retaliation. Her bond was set at $50,000.00.
According to Kirbyville Chief of Police Paul Brister, Howard, who is a former paramedic, left her children with a woman at the Gateway Motel on Highway 96 in Kirbyville with no food or other items. Brister said police were called to the motel to check the welfare of the children, and also the father of the children was called and asked to pick them up, which he did.
However, Brister said Howard went into a rage and accused the police of having her children. She posted videos of herself on Facebook, one of which showed her causing a scene outside of the Newton County Courthouse and Sheriff’s Department.
It finally ended when police say she showed up at the police station and broke a window, and was then taken into custody.
