Kirbyville Police say a woman is behind bars after she tried to trade a stolen pickup truck for an ATV on Thursday morning. Police Chief Paul Brister says it occurred at Patrick’s Auto on Highway 96. According to Brister, the 28-year-old suspect is originally from New Caney, but has been living in Jasper recently. Brister said she showed up at the business in a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, which she wanted to trade for a side-by-side and cash. However, Brister said the company wisely did some checking and when they determined that the truck was reported stolen out of Montgomery County, they called police. Brister said Officer Ashley Arce responded to the business and inside the stolen truck she found 10.4 grams of methamphetamine and 9.9 grams of marijuana. The name of the woman has not yet been released pending formal charges at arraignment, which is expected to occur on Friday morning.
