The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department says a woman was arrested Wednesday morning after she was accused of abandoning a toddler who was found walking on a road.
The report said deputies responded shortly after 7:00 to Sunset Road, which is south of Evadale, on a report of a 3-year-old child missing.
According to the report, the mother, 28-year-old Erin Elizabeth Hebert had left the child at home alone while she drove other children to school, and she returned home to find the toddler missing.
The report said as deputies were responding a neighbor called the sheriff’s department and reported that they had found the child on a road.
Hebert was arrested and she was charged with Abandoning/Endangering a Child with Intent to Return.
