The Silsbee Police Department says a 7o-year-old woman was murdered on Thursday morning, and their suspect is an 87-year-old man. The crime occurred at about 8:00 on Bonner Street in the north side of that town. A statement from police said that officers responded to a report of a possible shooting and arrived to find the woman dead. Police said they began searching for a person of interest, Norman Dean Land, who was found later and arrested after a murder warrant had been issued. Police noted that Land was reported to possibly be exhibiting signs of dementia. Meanwhile, they described him as a possible "acquaintance" of the victim. The name of the victim or other details about the crime have not yet been released.
