Wildfire west of Magnolia Springs

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Both the Tri-Community and Beech Grove Fire Departments along with the Texas A&M Forest Service were fighting a wildfire west of Magnolia Springs on Wednesday afternoon. At about 2:00, a forest service crew spotted a large column of smoke rising from that area. Firefighters say the blaze is in the area of County Roads 330 and 328. Beech Grove Fire Chief Jamie Gunter said they were finally able to get a helicopter shortly before 5:00 which began to make water drops. As of Thursday morning, Gunter says the fire continues to burn and fire crews will continue operations to get it completely out.
