The Newton Volunteer Fire Department has announced that the agency has received a very generous grant from the Texas A&M Forest Service for battery powered extrication tools. The forest service covered 90% of the cost while the Newton Fire Department had to pay only 10%. Fire department officials say the tools have been purchased from Delta Fire & Safety, Inc. in Eunice, Louisiana. Used mainly after motor vehicle accidents, the tools can also be used in a variety of circumstances where manpower isn’t enough, and mechanical power is needed.
The following items were purchased:
~ 1 lighted handle cutter
~ 1 lighted handle spreader
~ 1 set of extension tips
~ 1 chain saw
~ 1 cut off saw
~ 1 reciprocating saw
~ 1 battery charger
~ 2 extra batteries
