NATCHITOCHES, La. – A wildfire near the Mora community in southwest Natchitoches Parish burned an estimated 30 to 40 acres on Sunday.
Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 responded to the fire near Kisatchie-Mora Road and Pine Grove Church Road with assistance from the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office along with other agencies.
Fire crews worked to protect five homes and Pine Grove Church as the fire spread through the area.
Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry crews deployed two bulldozers to cut a containment line around the fire.
Chief Michael Sanders of Fire Protection District No. 1 said the line was established and crews are continuing to monitor the area due to windy conditions.
No buildings were damaged.
