JASPER COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Jasper County sheriff deputies assisted Kirbyville police officers with a vehicle chase Saturday night that ended with the arrest of two juvenile suspects.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the chase began around 10 p.m. when suspects led authorities west on FM 82 while driving at high speeds. The chase continued to County Road 408, where the suspects lost control and struck a tree before running away on foot.
One suspect was arrested at the scene while officers searched for the second in a wooded area, using a K9 unit and a JCSO drone, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said the second suspect was found after he backtracked through the area and became entangled in a briar patch. He began yelling for help near the location where the drone pilot was stationed. The drone pilot and a Kirbyville Police Department officer took him into custody.
According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle involved in the chase was reported stolen out of Houston. The driver was transported to a hospital while the second suspect was arrested and released to juvenile probation.
