White Oak woman accused of leading police on chase through several towns

CARTHAGE, Texas (KLTV) - Panola County Sheriff Cutter Clinton released information about a pursuit that initiated in Tatum and ended in Panola County on Monday afternoon. Clinton said that at 3:34 p.m., Panola County dispatchers were alerted that a pursuit was coming into the county on Hwy 149. The driver was identified as Autumn Beth Stephens, 32, of White Oak. Tatum police initiated the pursuit in their city limits, then traveled through Beckville and Riderville, as Stephens continued to flee, Clinton said. A PCSO deputy successfully deployed spike strips on Hwy 149 before the Carthage Loop. The vehicle continued into the city limits on Cottage Road before turning onto Mary Street, and then Pollard Street. Clinton said Stephens’ vehicle struck a power guy wire and came to a stop at Pollard and Sunset streets at 3:53 p.m. Stephens was arrested at the scene of the crash and was taken to the Panola County Jail for a parole warrant and a Gregg County warrant, as well as on-view charges, Clinton said. Tatum PD was assisted by Panola County deputies and constables, as well as Carthage PD, he noted.
