Wheel comes off truck hitting woman at Dollar General Store

An employee of a local store is said to have received only minor injuries following a bizarre accident that occurred on Tuesday morning. Captain Mike Poindexter of the Jasper Police Department said that incident occurred shortly before 8:00 at the new Dollar General Store at 1510 North Wheeler Street, when a wheel came off the trailer of a log truck. Poindexter said the wheel first hit an ice box and then the female employee who had was standing near the front entrance to the store. Poindexter said the driver of the truck, which was headed north, realized that something had happened and pulled over a short time later. The woman, who has not been identified by police was taken by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.
