HAMMOND, La. (KPLC) - The Westlake Lady Rams defeated the Oak Grove Lady Tigers 46-45 to punch their ticket to the state final game for the first time in program history on Tuesday.
The Lady Rams were down nine in the 4th quarter and Alicia Cuppens came alive for Westlake knocking down a mid-range and a big three to cut the Oak Grove lead to just two with 5 minutes to go. Cuppens also led the Lady Rams with 13 points in the contest.
Her teammates Laila Roussel and Hallie Wilrye weren’t far behind. Roussel finished with 12 points and Wilrye with 11 including the go ahead bucket with around a minute left to put Westlake in position to come out with the historic win
Five-star prospect Caroline Bradley did everything she could for Oak Grove on the other side. Bradley put up an impressive double double scoring 29 points and grabbing 20 rebounds to go along with them in the losing effort.
The Lady Rams will look to take home their first state championship in program history taking on top-seeded French Settlement in the division three non-select title game on Friday.
