As intermittent rain and thunderstorms passed over the region on Monday afternoon, weather related power outages were reported in southeast and west Jasper and several in counties north of here. Deep East Texas Electric Co-Op was reporting about 762 outages as of mid-afternoon. City of Jasper Public Works Greg Kelley said the outages were wind related. He said a tree was blown down onto a line in west Jasper and a tree limb was blown down onto a line in southeast Jasper.
