Wanted fugitive Andrew Lee Ancell killed by a train in Nacogdoches

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

He managed to stay one step ahead of law enforcement, but he didn’t manage to stay a step ahead of a train. Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby has announced that wanted fugitive Andrew Lee Ancell was hit and killed by a train in Nacogdoches on Thursday morning. The 38-year-old was wanted for numerous crimes in multiple counties, and he had been on the run for months. There were multiple sightings of him in southeast Sabine County and in late July he moved into northeast Newton County. At one point there was a massive manhunt for him along Recreational Road 255. Meanwhile, Ancell somehow managed to make his way undetected to Nacogdoches where he has now met his demise. KJAS News will update this story when more information becomes available.
