Louisiana state officials released updated information on Thursday about the Tiger Island Wildfire, which has been burning since August 22nd and has scorched approximately 32,000 acres of land. As of Thursday, the blaze is about 71% contained, and over 400 firefighters on the local, state, and national level were working with over 60 pieces of firefighting apparatus in an effort to keep the remaining fire under control. The report also said that overall, air quality in the region has improved with less smoke in the air. A few weeks ago, word came from the Louisiana Governor’s Office that the Tiger Island Fire is the largest in the recorded history of Louisiana.
