SHREVEPORT, La. - Voting machines were checked in Caddo Parish Tuesday after a close race for sheriff between John Nickelson and Henry Whitehorn. One vote is all that separated the candidates for Caddo Parish sheriff. Both candidates were there watching as workers checked the tallies on the machines. The total number of votes was the same as reported on Saturday. Nickelson has requested a recount. Brett Frazier, who ran for Caddo Parish tax assessor, also wants a recount. He lost to Regina Webb by just over 200 votes. Mail-in ballots will be recounted Monday morning.
