The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department says a woman has been charged with murdering her husband. Deputies say shortly after 6:00pm on Tuesday, they received a 911 call from 53-year-old Melissa Ann Sweat and she told a dispatcher that she had just shot her husband. According to the department, deputies responded to a house on Boundary Road in the Pitkin Community where they found 61-year-old Rodney Sweat dead inside the house. Melissa Ann Sweat was arrested and she has been charged with Second Degree Murder. No other information was available and deputies said they are continuing to investigate.
