Vehicle struck a tree in the Call/Trout Creek area, nearest ambulance in Lumberton

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Emergency crews were on the scene of a major accident late Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle went off a highway and hit a tree. It occurred shortly before 5:00 on Farm to Market Road 1004 just inside Newton County, between the Call Community and the Trout Creek Community. Meanwhile, Jasper County dispatchers advised a deputy on the scene that the nearest ambulance was coming from Lumberton – 35 miles away. DPS Sergeant Shana Clark said 33-year-old Cody Green, of Newton, was driving a 1997 Honda CRV when a blowout occurred with the front-passenger side tire and that caused the vehicle to go off the highway. Green was transported by ambulance to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with non-life-threatening injuries.
