A lot of water in a short amount of time is being blamed for a single vehicle auto accident that occurred shortly before 7:00 on Tuesday evening in Kirbyville in heavy rains.
Police and other emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the crash across from the Kirbyville High School on Highway 96, when it was reported that the late model Lincoln Navigator, which was reportedly headed south, hydroplaned and went off the road and struck a power pole before landing upside down in a ditch.
The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle was not injured in the accident and crawled out a window.
Several businesses lost power in the area forcing the Family Dollar to close until power could be restored.
