Louisiana State Police detectives continue the investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred on East Harrop Street in Rayne on May 5, 2025, that resulted in the death of 48-year-old Lieutenant Allen Credeur of the Rayne Police Department (RPD).
The preliminary investigation revealed that officers with RPD were conducting a search warrant at a residence on East Harrop Street when, for reasons still under investigation, an RPD officer discharged their service weapon which struck Credeur. Despite officers immediately rendering aid, Credeur was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Detectives continue to gather evidence surrounding this shooting as part of an active investigation. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Officer-Involved Shooting
Acadia Parish – On May 5, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m. detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations were requested by the Rayne Police Department to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on East Harrop Street in Rayne. Investigators are working to process the scene and gather further information.
One officer was shot and pronounced deceased on the scene. This is an active investigation, and further information will be released when it becomes available.
