ORIGINAL STORY

Three people are dead and two others are injured following an industrial accident at Bechtel Energy on Gulfway Drive, just outside the Port Arthur city limits.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says just before 2:00am Tuesday, five people were working on a scaffolding when a portion of the scaffolding gave way and they fell. Two workers died at the scene and three others were taken to a local hospital where one died and the other two are still undergoing treatment.

Captain Crystal Holmes with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the two survivors did not suffer serious injuries.

Bechtel is the large liquified natural gas plant and terminal that is being built there employing a large crew of workers from all trades working to get the operation up and running.
