It was a tragic Christmas Eve in Sabine County where one person died and three others were injured in a crash. It happened at about 7:30 Sunday evening on Highway 96 at Farm to Market Road 201, just north of the Sabine/Jasper County Line. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Erik Burse, 60-year-old John Sullivan, of Broaddus, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet SUV westbound on FM 201. Sergeant Burse said Sullivan ran the stop sign, crossed Highway 96, and then crashed into a tree on the other side of the highway. One of the passengers in the SUV, 54-year-old Richard Dominey, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sullivan and two other passengers were all transported to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
