ORANGE — The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed to KFDM/Fox 4 that a missing Orange County man died in an accident on 4 Oaks Ranch Road, near Loving Drive, in the Neches River. Nathan Reid, 32, of Vidor, was pronounced dead on scene by a Justice of the Peace this evening. DPS troopers say the preliminary investigation indicates Reid's Ford F-150 pickup was traveling north on 4 Oaks Ranch Road and failed to negotiate the curve. Reid's truck struck an embankment, according to DPS, and submerged in the Neches River. A close friend of Reid remembers him as "a kind soul" who was a wonderful, hardworking father. He said Reid lived off 4 Oaks Ranch Road and was driving to work at a Port Arthur plant. The Port Arthur Fire Department dive team assisted with the investigation.
