The Beauregard Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness, the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Beauregard Parish Police Jury have the following updates:
The Donation Center is currently distributing the items that have been collected, things such as clothes, jackets and coats, shoes, socks, diapers, non-perishable food items, water, and toiletries. The Donation Center is also still accepting donations of the above items.
If you have been affected by the tornado and are in need of any of those items, the center is located at the old First Baptist Gym in DeRidder. It is located on the corner of HWY 27 and 2nd Street and is currently open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and will be open every day for the next several days.
The Donation Center is available for residents of Beauregard Parish and Vernon Parish that have been affected by the tornado.
The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office is also still asking for residents who suffered damages to their homes to call 337-463-3281 and report that damage. Please report the damage, even if you do not need assistance.
The American Red Cross is still conducting damage assessments in the areas affected in Beauregard and Vernon Parishes.
The Beauregard Parish Police Jury advises that residents of Beauregard Parish (only) can begin placing debris as close to the roadside, without blocking ditches, beginning today until January 7, 2020. The Police Jury will begin picking up the debris on January 7.
The Police Jury further requests that the debris be separated into three distinct piles:
- Vegetative (trees and brush)
- White goods (appliances)
- Other Construction debris (home materials)
**Please note: It is against Louisiana law to burn anything other than natural vegetation. Treated wood, insulation, shingles, etc. should not be burned. Those items should be placed by the roadside and will be picked up by the Police Jury.
