Daily News and More is reporting that a fiery early Tuesday morning crash in Sabine County has claimed one life. It happened at about 2:00 on a winding section of U.S. Highway 87 near Cajun Acres Lane, about 8 miles southeast of Hemphill. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2020 Toyota pickup truck was traveling southbound when the driver, for an unknown reason, left the roadway where the truck hit trees and caught on fire. Firefighters arrived shortly thereafter and reported that the vehicle was completely engulfed. A Justice of the Peace pronounced the driver dead at the scene, and he has now been identified as 62-year-old Hardy Dyson, of Orange.
