The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the driver of a wrecker truck who was killed when he crashed into the back of a garbage truck in Jefferson County late Tuesday morning. Troopers say Brandon Pitri, 40, of Magnolia, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash occurred just before the noon hour on Highway 90, just outside the Beaumont city limits. The driver and a passenger in the garbage truck were taken to St Elizabeth Hospital with minor injuries. A Justice of the Peace ordered an autopsy for Pitri’s body.

One person was killed and two others were injured Late Tuesday morning in a Jefferson County crash. It happened shortly before the noon hour on Highway 90 at Rose Lane, just west of the Beaumont city limits.According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a Pineywoods Sanitation garbage truck was traveling eastbound and was followed by a rollback wrecker carrying an SUV and towing a car. Troopers said the wrecker driver failed to control his speed and crashed into the back of the garbage truck. The wrecker driver was pronounced dead at the scene and a justice of the peace has ordered an autopsy. The driver and passenger in the garbage truck were taken to St Elizabeth Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The names of those involved have not yet been released.
