Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby said Sunday morning that the body of a Toledo Bend Reservoir drowning victim was recovered at 9:25am. The drowning occurred at 4:36pm on Saturday in a cove behind 155 Ridgecrest Drive on the far south end of the lake, 1.75 miles west of Toledo Bend Dam. The only information released about the victim is that he was 24 years of age, and he was swimming with other people when he went under and never resurfaced. Sheriff Burby says the identity of the man will be released later Sunday. Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens began searching for the body on Saturday evening. They stopped at nightfall and resumed the search early Sunday morning.
