Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby said Tuesday that in recent days, multiple unopened FedEx packages, which were marked as delivered, have been found discarded.
Burby said the first incident occurred on Thursday, March 28th and involved a package containing supplies and should have been delivered to the Newton County Jail. However, Burby said it was found on the driveway at a house on Highway 190 West.
According to Burby, the second incident occurred on Sunday, March 31st when four unopened Fed-Ed packages with weathered shipping labels were found in bushes near the intersection of Farm to Market Road 363 and County Road 4046.
Burby said the third incident occurred on Tuesday, April 2nd when three packages were found discarded in bushes in the 1700 block of Highway 190 West.
Meanwhile, Burby said the sheriff’s department has delivered all of the found packages to the correct recipients.
Burby also said that the department has been in contact with FedEx and has advised them of what has been happening.
