Republican U.S. lawmakers are moving forward with the impeachment of Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas, and some Louisiana congressmen are playing crucial roles in the proceedings. The articles of impeachment will now be sent to the Democrat-controlled Senate. Rep. Clay Higgins (R-Lafayette) was appointed a manager of the Senate trial, meaning he will be one of 11 people to present the articles of impeachment to the chamber. Higgins is chairman of the Border Security Subcommittee on the House Homeland Security Committee and helped lead the impeachment proceedings in committee.
